Handmade Repurposed Unique Jewellery and Lamps
I learned about recycling from an early age, hearing Waste Not, Want Not and Make Do And Mend a lot! I started collecting interesting things, learning so much about social history and resourcefulness along the way, and I became a designer and a maker. It is the combination of these skills which help me create unique repurposed alternative pieces - handmade sustainable charm with a historical nod. Discarded mechanical watches, bits of antique jewellery and mixed media found objects are all represented. The happy fun bracelets and necklaces, created from old cracker charms, small toys, haberdashery and useful things are all kidcore expressions of recycling and for me, full of childhood nostalgia. I hope the happiness I feel when I am creating these colourful vibrant pieces, transfers to the wearer!
My Etsy shop also stocks amazing one-of-a-kind sustainable steampunk style lamps and industrial inspired lights created by my husband, using his skills as a Design Technology teacher, to repurpose utilitarian items. Again, its recognition of bygone craftmanship where the most ordinary of tools were themselves iconic works of art. Beautiful wooden box planes, intricate brass blow-lamps, primus stoves, garden sprayers, film slide projectors, microscopes, cobblers lasts ...so many inspirational objects to conserve and give alternative life to.
