I create precious metal jewellery and fused glass home decor from my box room.
I am first and foremost a jeweller working in precious metals though I also create a range of fused glass art. I initially trained in metalwork back in 1995 and ran a small jewellery business for 3 years. I later went on to become a secondary school teacher in Design and Technology. Now I have returned to my main passion, handmade jewellery. I work mostly in sterling silver and 9ct gold to create a variety of one-off jewellery pieces and low volume jewellery designs. The inspiration for my work is mostly geometric in form as I prefer to maintain a minimalist style. I love the contrasts that can be achieved between silver and gold metals by combining high polishes and matt finishes. In addition to this I often add semi-precious stones or textures to enhance the overall appearance. I make a variety of handcrafted jewellery for teenagers through to ladies of more mature years including earrings, rings, pendants and bangles.
Having been a fan of fused glass for several years I started to include it in my jewellery. Firstly I created simple glass pendants and then later I started to combine the glass with sterling silver features to achieve more creative and distinctive jewellery designs. Since then I have further developed my glass skills to include a range of fused glass home decorations which include sun catchers, dishes, freestanding art and wall art.
I work from home in Dronfield, Derbyshire to design and make a range of affordable products. I sell through a variety of outlets locally including fairs, local shops, my own website and other online marketplaces.
Further to my own jewellery and glass making I also craft workshops from home and other venues. These have a go workshops are available for silver jewellery making and fused glass. The craft courses vary in cost however all materials are included. The craft sessions are a great opportunity to meet new people and learn a new craft in a comfortable and relaxing environment.
