Christine Layton - Cabinet making

Christine Layton

I have been hand making bespoke fine furniture for 11 years. Each piece is unique and made with love

Since re-training as a cabinet maker I have been making bespoke furniture for private clients for the last 11 years. My website:(christinelaytonfurniture)
features pictures of many of the furniture I have made in the past.

In between my bespoke furniture making commissions I make small pieces as gifts which I sell at craft fairs and makers markets. The items I make are, for example quality wooden trinket and jewellery boxes, table mats and coasters, candle holders, bath caddies, tea trays and glass and Prosecco or wine holders.

I recently completed a resin art course and in future will be combining my cabinet making skills with the colourful medium of resin art.

Everything is made entirely by me in my small workshop in Faversham, Kent.

My business is a glorified hobby. I work entirely on my own. I do not have to make a living at what I do so I am able to charge much less than most other cabinet makers, but I still make high quality products.

All of my furniture is made from hardwoods and carefully chosen, beautifully figured veneers. I design each piece of furniture specifically for each client and choose wood which has interesting figuring so that I can make each item as attractive as possible. My furniture is beautiful but also practical.
