Join Ruth Holmes for a Fabulous Mixed Media Textile Workshop: Embellished Beasts

Get creative with Ruth Holmes in this imaginative and hands-on textile art workshop, perfect for anyone who loves fabric, texture, and a touch of sparkle!

In this session, you’ll begin by selecting from a range of hand-dyed fabrics—carefully chosen to complement the “beast” of your choice. Whether you’re inspired by mythical creatures, woodland animals, or something entirely unique, Ruth will guide you through the process of bringing your design to life.

You’ll start by enhancing your fabric using a variety of stencils and stamps to add depth, pattern, and character. While your base dries, you’ll move on to choosing a beautiful backing fabric that fits the frame provided. From there, you’ll create two additional patterned layers using wadding, which will be shaped to give your beast a wonderful, raised and dimensional effect in the centre of your artwork.

The final flourish is the most exciting—embellishing your creature with a selection of recycled jewellery and decorative elements. Ruth will provide a wide array of treasures to choose from, but you’re also warmly encouraged to bring along any broken or unused jewellery from home that you think might work well in your piece.

Once your artwork is complete, you’ll mount it in a frame, ready to take home and admire—or gift to someone special!
