Natural Dye Workshop With a Twist Forage Press and Play
“A joyful hands-on natural dye and stitch workshop using foraged plants a heat press and creative”
Come and explore the colourful world of natural dyes in this one-of-a-kind workshop that combines garden foraging, eco-printing, and hand stitch! Natural Dye Workshop With a Twist: Forage, Press and Play! is a full-day creative experience designed for those who love textiles, nature, and experimental making.
We’ll begin the day with a gentle foraging walk around the garden to collect fresh leaves, flowers, and interesting textures. Back in the studio, you’ll learn how to use pre-mordanted natural fabrics to get strong, lasting prints. You’ll experiment with natural dye powders and dye-rich plant matter (like turmeric, onion skins, hibiscus, and more), applying them alongside your foraged items.
Using a professional heat press, you’ll transfer colours and botanical shapes onto cloth, capturing beautiful silhouettes and patterns. Once your fabrics are cooled and revealed, you’ll be guided through ways to enhance your prints using simple hand stitching — outlining shapes, adding contrast, or building texture into your piece.
Whether you’re a seasoned textile artist or a complete beginner, this workshop is all about creative play, learning through doing, and enjoying time immersed in natural colour.
