(10:00 till 16:00)
Step into a full day of creativity with our Experimental Thursday workshop, “Layers of Nature” – a hands-on, mixed media experience for textile lovers, curious beginners, and seasoned creatives alike.
This workshop is all about exploration and expression, where youll learn how to build rich, layered surfaces using an inspiring mix of traditional and unconventional materials. Well be working with:
and 127912 Transfer paints – create colourful designs that magically transform when pressed onto synthetic fabrics.
and 128396 Gesso and papers – prepare textured backgrounds that form the bones of your collage.
and 127793 Foraged garden materials – incorporate natural shapes and textures using real leaves, grasses and seed heads.
and 127787 Sheer fabrics, cellophane, and foils – play with transparency, shine, and delicate layering.
and 128293 Heat press techniques – learn how to safely use heat to distress, transfer, and fuse materials into one-of-a-kind surfaces.
and 129525 Machine stitching – once your piece has cooled, youll use free-motion embroidery to add line, structure and beautiful thread details.
This is a relaxed, supportive environment where you can experiment without pressure, discover unexpected effects, and go home with a unique textile artwork full of colour, texture and story.
You’ll discover how:
Different materials respond to heat
To layer sheer and opaque elements for depth
To use stitch as a drawing tool
To embrace chance and spontaneity in your creative process
