Back
in 2003, we started attending craft fairs. However, we often found
it difficult to find local fairs to attend, at least until they
were advertised in the local press about a week before they ran.
This prompted us to think of an easy way for organisers to promote
their craft fairs. With some fairs only charging ten pounds for
a table and the money going to charity, we quickly realised that
a low cost service was needed. We hoped that the smaller fairs held
in local schools or church halls would include their craft fairs,
as well as the larger events.
Since the site was launched back in 2004, we have seen thousands
of craft fairs listed on the site. We also looked at representing
other parts of the craft community on the site. We now see this
site appealing to five main sections:
- Craft Fair Organisers
- Every day lots of exhibitors contact the craft fair organisers
about booking space at an event. Also, people looking for craft
fairs to attend, search the site. If you are organising an event,
we would recommend that you sign up as a member
before listing your fair or fairs.
You can add any event where
there will be a significant number of handcrafted items on sale.
This would include agricultural shows, craft fayres, craft shows,
county shows or country fairs etc, where a there is a Craft Hall
or Craft Marquee.
- Craft Fair Exhibitors
- Search the site for the supplies you need and the craft fairs
to attend. You can contact both groups directly from the site.
We would recommend that you sign up as a member,
so that all the information on the site is available to you. You
can then list yourself on the site, to promote your craft.
- Craft Suppliers
- Finding the materials, displays and packaging are crucial. We
would recommend that you sign up as a member
and that you then list your details to promote your business to
the thousands of crafts people using the site.
- Craft Groups
- We have split this section into four main groups, Associations,
Societies, Clubs and Guilds. We recommend that you sign up as
a member then list your
group on the site, to promote it to the thousands of visitors
interested in crafts, that come to the site.
- Craft Fair Visitors
- The live blood of all events. You can use the site for free
but not all the contact information will be available. Sign up
as a member to be able
to contact anyone on the site.
Our aim is to build a comprehensive guide to the UK craft community
